How Do I Grow A Successful Chiropractic Clinic?

The Fundamental Steps Of Growing Your Successful Chiropractic Clinic

There are 2 ways you can do this. Do your best to attract new patients, muddle through and try lots of different things all in the hope that these new practice members will stay with you. Or we can get down to business and take the fundamental steps you need to grow your Chiropractic Clinic.

Option 1 waste a lot of time, energy and money.

Option 2 be strategic and thoughtful, make good decisions the first time and over the long term save money.

Right, let’s work through option 2.

5 Steps That Will Build A Strong Foundation On Which To Grow Your Chiropractic Clinic

Visualise your ideal practice in great detail. The more detail the better. I have a client who is very artistic and drew his vision for his practice. A complete colour drawing of his idea for a successful practice. 

That drawing now has pride of place in his office, he has achieved his dream and uses that picture as a reminder of how it all started. I’m not saying you have to channel your inner Picasso but writing it down, refining it, getting the detail down is the first step to growing your practice. 

For those of you who have been in practice for a long while, don’t miss this step. Whether it’s your 1st year or your 20th this step forms a strong layer in the foundation of your clinic.

Step Two

Understand the gap. Where you are now, compared with your ideal successful practice. The gap in your revenue, patient numbers, team, P.V.A, all other KPIs, environment, culture, practice member experience.

Step Three

Make a plan. I prefer to call them a Success Plan. Every great Success Plan contains the full map, the directions if you will, to your ideal successful clinic. Broken down from year to quarter to month to week to day. A brilliant Success Plan also has the roles, responsibilities of the team within it, as well as your patient attraction and retention strategy.

Before we move on to step four, remember your clinic isn’t the same as any other. Your values are different, your life experience is different, your idea of success is different, your team are different. All these differences are what make your clinic unique and special. How will showcase your values to your team and practice members?

Step Four

Mind The Gap,

No, we aren’t using the underground. This step is all about the mindset that’s needed to achieve your version of successful chiropractic clinic.

I’m sure you know the quote - the thinking that got you here won’t get you there - It may be an old saying, to be blunt it’s true. And it’s not just your mindset we need to focus on, it’s your CA’s, massage therapists and any other team members you have. Each and every single member of your team needs to have the confidence and the tools to handle this improvement and growth in your practice. The right mindset to cope with the obstacles that will no doubt come up as they always do when things are changing and evolving. You and the team need to believe in yourselves as you may well be required to do things differently.

That brings to mind another famous quote. - Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right.

Step Five

Skills. 

Does your team have all the skills needed to follow through on every step of your carefully crafted detailed Success Plan? I am going to take a stab at answering this for you. No. Relying on Aunt Peggy to do the social media just because she once read an article about it won’t cut the mustard if you’re serious about growing your Chiropractic business. 

The same goes for you thinking you can do all the tasks, train, supervise, mentor the team and deliver exceptional chiropractic care to your community. While being a great partner, parent, friend, son/daughter. Can you learn the skills. Absolutely. Do you want to spend your time learning the skills or pay someone to do it for you? Which will save you money in the long run? Blunt, maybe. Is it right? That's up to you :)

  • Delve into the detail. Visualise and write down your vision for your really successful chiropractic clinic. This is for you, whether you’ve been in practice for 5 minutes or decades.
  • Understand your gaps. Where are you now with your stats, culture, environment, practice member experience, revenue compared to your ideal successful chiropractic clinic?
  • Write your Success Plan. Break that plan down from the year end to a quarter to a month to a week to a day. Take the action steps consistently.
  • Mindset. Of you and the whole team. Remember the quotes I shared earlier?
  • Skills, do you or the team need to learn some new skills? Will you pay someone to do the things you don’t have the time or the drive to do?

These five steps aren’t the be all end all of increasing your chiropractic growth. They are the foundation on which you start build your successful practice.

The business built on shaky foundations won’t last the course as my Grandad used to say.
